February, 2016 update: Don Edgar writes that he sold Windfall to George Coburn and Teresa Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL in 2005. The new owners repowered with a Yanmar.

My name is Don Edgar and I am the new owner of a Seawind II ketch #64 which I purchased from Hal Simms of Inman, SC. I am in process of redocumenting and will change her name (with appropriate ceremony) from Wand'rin Star II to the new name...Windfall. She is berthed in Cortez, FL at Cove Sound Moorings.
Over the last couple of years I had been attempting to restore a Mariner 31, but at about the 70% point, decided it was time to get back on the water with a well found, reliable and strong cruising boat. I went through the research (special thanks to you and the other owners for the detailed info provided on the owner's group web site) and the Allied Seawind II kept popping up as the boat to focus on and so the search began. After a few false starts tracking down Seawinds for sale in Florida and a lot of highway miles, I hooked up with Hal in Ft. Pierce. #64 had been in storage for an extended period in a working repair yard and showed the results of that environment. But beyond the dirt and grime and bits of debris, those classic lines, broad shoulders and beautiful sheer showed through. I was hooked!

Well, made the deal, took delivery the week before Xmas and on the 26th of December made the cross Forida journey via the Okachobee waterway and the Caloosahatchee. After an uneventful 48 hours of motoring, wind on the nose all the way, and she was berthed in her new home in Cortez. The trip did serve as an excellent test though, and I've developed about a 2 page list of things to handle, although none are critical to getting "out there".

I'm certainly looking forward to membership in the Allied Seawind II Owner's Association with its information exchange and idea sharing. Looking at the current list and reading the newsletters confirms that we all have a lot to impart from a vast and diverse body of experience.

Galley to port with stove, refrigerator and sink. 6' 2" head room, teak and formica interior. New interior cushions, paint and varnish.
